LINED POND
Ted and Sue Cordell contacted us in the autumn of 2007. They wished for improvements to their existing pond. We designed a larger pond with a stream, making maximum use of a little-used space. As the pond was in ornamental gardens, we had to remove the spoil over the lawns using tracking boards. In the pond we put a secondary filtration scheme, automatic top-up system, planting shelves and a plinth for a statue ( yet to come). The butyl lined pond is hard-edged, allowing for firm dry access to the water's edge and the waterfall is built from Fittleworth rock. The project took 4 weeks to completion, when it was turfed. They are delighted with the completed project and we are looking forward to seeing it planted up. One additional item of interest is an old lined pond with a small hole in the liner. Roots have grown through the liner destroying the pond. The lesson here is that when a lined pond has a leak it must be repaired.
